Civilizational
Civilizational is a narrative history project exploring the moral and political crisis of the West since the First World War. It is told through the lives of those who confronted that crisis—statesmen, writers, and thinkers acting within moments of breakdown—and the competing explanations they offered for what was happening and why.

The project moves between past and present. Each series follows a set of figures as they struggle to understand the world around them, tracing the deeper tensions—between power and belief, order and meaning—that continue to shape our world today.

The main series is available as a podcast, with related essays and Civilizational: Briefings published on Substack.
